Food parcel distribution in Bosnia - Jan/Feb 2012
Food parcel distribution in Bosnia (Feb 2012).
Many families have been cut off by the recent heavy snow and Walter and his team are helping to deliver out food parcels to the sick, needy, elderly and poor people they know in Bosnia. Fox News reported on 5/2/12 that helicopters were used recently to evacuate the sick and deliver food to thousands of people left stranded by its heaviest snowfall ever.
Walter reports "I am writing to ask you to make a special contribution that could allow us to buy food parcels and wood for about 30 families that we know that are struggling to survive this winter. Most of the families are sending their children to our day care because they have found a warm place to spend the day and food to eat. The weather is very bad and the temperatures have been around 6F (-14C). It will not improve for the next several weeks. We want to provide these food parcels and wood at least for the next three months. A basic food parcel costs about $45(35€) and a meter of wood cost about $35 (30€)."
ITUK is fundraising to raise support and provide basic food parcels for families in Bosnia who are struggling to feed their families and are cut off by heavy snow. We are hoping to raise support for 30 families for the next three months. ITUK is asking you if you would consider supporting one family for three months, which would cost £25 per month.
